$$$ The truth behind the American Heart Association and the American Diabetic Association’s Irrational Advice
By now there is a staggering amount of research showing that dietary saturated fat and dietary cholesterol intake does NOT increase the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and that consuming high amounts of polyunsatured fats as a substitute does NOT prevent CVD. So why do two of our most well-known “authorities” on health continue to advocate a low fat diet high in polyunsatured fats as health promoting? The answer once again boils down to Money, and we are talking Big Money! Both the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Diabetic Association (ADA) receive most of their funding from ……. You guessed it….. Pharmaceutical and Medical device companies (To the tune of a quarter Billion dollars annually according to 2007 data, surely the amounts have far increased since!). The next biggest contributors are processed food companies. Simply put, the pharmaceutical companies stand to lose Billions of dollars in sales from cholesterol lowering drugs if the AHA and the ADA where to reverse their stand on this issue as research has shown the low fat high carbohydrate diet actually Raises cholesterol levels! And of course there is a massive processed food industry focused on the production of low fat foods that would suffer tremendously if the public knew how Damaging these foods really are! With essentially all of their funding at stake, and the Significant Conflict of Interest at play, it is No wonder why the AHA and ADA have yet to change their tune on the saturated fat/cholesterol myth!
