Strawberries are not only a great sources of antioxidants they also contain Vitamins C, A, D, E, K as well as multiple B vitamins. In addition to these vitamins, strawberries contain the following minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, selenium and sodium. The key is to avoid commercially grown strawberries that are often contaminated with cancer causing pesticides. One study from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found one sample of strawberries that contained 13 different pesticides! Although buying organic strawberries that are free of pesticides will likely cost more, saving money at the expense of ingesting cancer causing chemicals is a no win scenario!
