Dr. Marc Dupuis
Board Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician
Owner & President of Back to Health Chiropractic PC
Dr. Marc Dupuis, originally from southern Connecticut, relocated with his family to Sanford, Maine as a youth where he attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School. Dr. Dupuis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maine at Orono, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Following his graduation from UMaine, he realized his passion was to work with people and health care seemed like a natural fit to combine his background in science and research while helping people achieve optimum health. While preparing to attend graduate school in an allopathic medical program, Dr. Dupuis gained hands on experience with patient care while working as an Emergency Medical Technician. It was during this time as an EMT that he developed back pain as a result of repetitive lifting of patients. Dr. Dupuis decided to see his family’s chiropractor and after one visit, he felt significant relief! Perhaps what was more surprising was that after a few visits he noticed improvements in his running and biking. This experience prompted Dr. Dupuis to shift his academic plans and attend graduate school at New York Chiropractic College. The Chiropractic Philosophy of helping individuals achieve health naturally without the use of drugs or surgery and its role in performance improvement of athletes resonated well with Dr. Dupuis’ own views on health.
In 2003, Dr. Dupuis graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York Chiropractic College, in Seneca Falls, New York.
In the winter of 2004, Dr. Dupuis was pleased to return to Maine where opened his practice, Back to Health Chiropractic, focusing on family care, athletic performance, injury prevention/treatment and rehabilitation.
Further Educational Experiences Focused on Athletic Treatment
In 2002 Dr. Dupuis had the privilege to study Elite Sports Science at the United States Olympic training center in Lake Placid, New York.
The summer of 2003 brought another excellent opportunity to examine, diagnose and treat patients at the Sports Medicine Specialty Clinic at Camp Geiger School of Infantry at Camp LeJune United States Marine Base, Jacksonville, NC.

Since the summer of 2007, Dr. Dupuis has functioned as Team Chiropractor for the Sanford Mainer’s Baseball Team, part of the New England College Baseball League.
Additional Training/Certifications
Since 2003, Dr. Dupuis has dedicated numerous hours of continuing education on the topics of whole food nutrition, therapeutic herbs and nutrition counseling.
In November of 2011, Dr. Dupuis obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP™). The CCSP® certification requires the doctor to attend a minimum of 100 hours of a 120 hour postgraduate program. This instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports. Following the completion of these hours, the doctor must then take and successfully pass a comprehensive written examination.
Dr. Dupuis is a certified Impulse Instrument adjusting chiropractor and is certified in the Webster Technique for pregnant patients. Dr. Marc has advanced training in the application of Kinesio Tape/Rock Tape.

Dr. David Doiron
Chiropractor, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Born and raised here in Sanford, Dr. David Doiron graduated from Sanford High School in 2003. As the youngest of four boys Dr. Doiron developed a love for athletics early on and participated in soccer, basketball, and track & field throughout his high school career. After becoming Class A Maine State champion in pole vault his senior year, he went on to compete at the Division I level for the University of New Hampshire in decathlon. Keeping with the athletic theme he completed his undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science at UNH. It was throughout his year round training regimen at UNH that Dr. Doiron began to realize he suffered the same pain/injury patterns. The athletic trainers and staff in the sports medicine department did all they could to try to remedy these issues but there was one important piece missing, chiropractic! It wasn’t until Dr. Doiron pursued outside treatment from a local chiropractor that he began to train pain free and realize how vital a role the profession could play in the athletic arena. This experienced undoubtedly provoked him to study and want to combine his exercise science background with chiropractic at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. While obtaining his doctorate of chiropractic degree from Logan, Dr. Doiron concurrently completed his master’s degree in Sports Science & Rehabilitation. The last requirement for the master’s degree was an onsite internship experience which he fulfilled this past summer at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
Dr. Doiron’s evaluation and treatments mainly focus on restoring motion and mobility in the spine and extremities while addressing soft tissue dysfunction through specific stretching protocols and functional exercise prescription. Although much of his training has been focused on athletes, the common denominator is that all people can benefit from having a more sport specific approach to treatment.
Pleased to be done the educational process and excited to help the community, Dr. Doiron looks forward to working alongside Dr. Dupuis at Back To Health Chiropractic.
Additional Training/Certifications/Techniques
Some other credentials Dr. Doiron has earned are his Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®) from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA®). He holds dual certification in Active Release Technique (ART®) for the upper extremity and spine. Has his M1 certification in Graston ® soft tissue mobilization. Since Dr. Doiron has his master’s degree in Sports Science & Rehabilitation he is automatically qualified to sit for the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) exam and plans to do so in November 2011. As a side interest Dr. Doiron completed 100 hours of continuing education in basic acupuncture.
