According to a study in the journal Neurotoxicology, three common pesticides have been linked to damaging our children’s brains resulting in Decreased Motor Skills, Decreased IQ and Increased Incidence of ADHD.  What is significant about this study is that it showed when these toxins are present in a pregnant woman the toxins are also found in the children after they are born!  It should be no surprise that with the vast increase in the use of these devastating chemicals, our teachers today are dealing with shocking numbers of children with conditions that were virtually unheard of thirty or forty years ago.

When we think of environmental toxins, we often picture pollutants in the air and soil from factories or in the water from a host of contaminating sources.  The one place many of us do not expect to find toxins is inside our cars.  Each year a study is performed to evaluate the level of toxins that we are exposed to from our CARS!  Click on the link below to see the top ten most toxic cars and the top ten cleanest cars.

Recent information has shown that treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), with psychotropic drugs such as Ritalin, can lead to depression in adult life through drug induced “complex behavioral adaptations”.

Recent information has also shown that children with ADHD appear to have lower than normal levels of the healthy fish oil fats, EPA and DHA.  DHA has been shown to be a key component of healthy nervous system development and decreased levels have been associated with depression.

This information is so important because it suggests that supplementation with fish oil may be useful in the treatment of children with ADHD, and if this is the case, would be a method of treatment without the damaging side effects of psychotropic drugs.

Johnson and Johnson’s “No More Tears” baby shampoo has been found to contain a formaldehyde-releasing chemical, these agents are known as carcinogens. The carcinogenic shampoo is currently sold in the United States, while most other countries selling the “No More Tears” shampoo are carcinogen free.

Not only is Johnson and Johnson’s “No More Tears” shampoo exposing our infants and young children to carcinogens but the carcinogens have also been shown to trigger rashes and other skin inflammation issues.

Research has shown that cooking with garlic and onions can be a simple, tasty and cost effective way to help prevent cancer AND encourage detoxification.  Garlic has also been shown to be very effective in optimizing cholesterol levels and has antibacterial, antirviral & antifungal properties!  In fact, garlic has been shown to have over 150 beneficial properties.   Regular use of garlic for health benefits has been documented as far back as ancient times during the Roman Empire!  The best use of garlic is fresh, as many of the key compounds break down readily after preparation.
